Chime Bells

what happens when globalization mates healthily with pop-culture

This song impressed me when I heard Jewel sing it.  It’s an old song, well-written, but that’s the only thing I can find about it, but I wish I knew more of its origins.

This version is sung by a Pinoy novelty singer named Fred Panopio, and in reverence to the quarter of my existence we have in common, I posted this version because this is unheard of in the social and non-social realms I live in: calloused-handed, Filipino yodelers singing Southern belle American folk songs on 45s to pass idle time over there in Manila.

Apparently, this was a hit song in the Phillippines back when it first debuted in 1959.
